This Innovative Bike Helmet Folds to Fit In Your Backpack
Biker: Roberto Mandje
I’ve been a bike commuter for more than a decade, so I’m always interested in gear that makes riding around the city safer and more convenient. One of the biggest challenges with traditional bike helmets is what to do with them once the ride is over — especially in New York City, where you may be hopping on the subway, heading into a meeting, or carrying everything in a backpack or messenger bag.
That’s why I was excited to try the Overade Plixi foldable bike helmet. After a ride, the helmet folds down into a much more compact size, making it easier to fit into a bag instead of carrying it around all day.
I especially like the combination of practicality and design. It feels like a smart solution for commuters, travelers, and anyone regularly using bike-share programs like Citi Bike. Being able to ride somewhere, fold up your helmet, and continue on with your day makes bringing a helmet along feel much more realistic.
We took the Plixi out for a sunrise ride across the Brooklyn Bridge, and it was a perfect example of the kind of adventure this helmet is built for: ride through the city, enjoy the morning, then pack the helmet away when you’re done.
If you’re a bike commuter or frequent bike-share rider looking for a more portable helmet option, the Overade Plixi is definitely worth checking out.
