Hi, I’m John. I’m an executive leader, strategist, and creative who has spent nearly two decades working across global sport, major events, sustainability, philanthropy, partnerships, and social impact.

At the center of my work is a pretty simple idea: bring the right people together, build the systems that help ambitious ideas grow, and turn strategy into action.

My career has taken me from corporate analytics in Wisconsin to New York Road Runners and the New York City Marathon, where I worked across partnerships and philanthropy around one of the world’s largest sporting events. I later spent seven years at the World Surf League, ultimately serving as Vice President of Sustainability & Social Impact and Executive Director of WSL PURE.

At the WSL, I led sustainability and impact strategy across a global sports organization operating more than 190 events in 20 countries. Our work helped drive a 49% reduction in emissions, 70% waste diversion, and more than 200 partnerships. I also helped evolve the organization’s environmental platform into WSL One Ocean, bringing together athletes, brands, nonprofits, events, and storytelling to engage millions of people around ocean conservation.

Today, I lead global operations and partnerships at Save The Waves Coalition, working across organizational strategy, operations, fundraising, partnerships, and conservation programs protecting surf ecosystems around the world.

While the organizations and issues have changed throughout my career, the work I’m drawn to has remained remarkably consistent. I enjoy solving complicated problems, building partnerships across sectors, creating systems that make organizations stronger, and finding ways to turn big ideas into measurable results.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with global brands, athletes, nonprofits, foundations, community organizations, and international institutions—and I’m particularly interested in work that sits at the intersection of business, culture, sport, sustainability, and social impact.

Outside of work, I’m a photographer, traveler, husband, and dad. I grew up in Wisconsin, spent a decade in New York City, and now live in Los Angeles.
