Barn On The Pond with Glamping Hub
We were looking for a charming property upstate a few hours north of the city for a getaway with friends. The moment we came across the Barn On The Pond (BOTP) property on Glamping Hub we knew we were going to be in for a memorable weekend.
Aside from the beautiful property, the cozy fireplaces, and the airstream trailer (about 100 feet from the barn), the barn also featured a full kitchen and spacious living area, exactly what we were looking for to accommodate a large group. By looking at the photos online, we knew the open layout would encourage us to relax and spend quality time hanging out with one another while enjoying nature and the pond on the property.
Set on 4 grassy acres situated roughly 100 miles north of the city, the Barn On The Pond property located in Saugerties, NY was accessible by car, train, and bus and proved to be the perfect distance out of the city. The location offered a peace and tranquility that isn’t always easy to find close to the city, while still being accessible. A tranquility that even inspired our night owls to wake up early and enjoy morning bird walks around the pond.
The minute we pulled up to the barn, we were immediately blown away. The serene property, beautiful high ceilings and welcoming decor set the tone for our weekend. The design and layout made this property a great place to host a large gathering and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision. It offered three totally private bedrooms, one lofted bedroom, multiple fold-out chair and couch offerings, and an airstream trailer (100 feet from the barn) that sleeps 4-5 people. The barn sleeps 4 couples comfortably, but if your group of friends or family is close with one another you can easily sleep 15 like we did with all the options available. Bringing an air mattress or camping pad will allow you to sleep 20, no problem.
The layout was certainly conducive to a relaxing weekend with a large group of friends. Knowing how nothing brings people together like food, we were particularly excited to book with BOTP after seeing it’s large kitchen and communal eating space. We found ourselves spending lots of time gathered around the island in the kitchen or sitting at the large table between the kitchen and living room. This gourmet kitchen easily allowed our friends to flow throughout the kitchen with no issues and cook together for each meal. The kitchen is fully stocked featuring new appliances, a large stove with 6 burners, 2 sinks, 2 ovens, 2 dishwashers, and 2 refrigerators. Everything from utensils to spices and dishes to place settings, BOTP has you covered. While we didn’t book one during our stay, Barn on the Pond also offers a list of private chefs who regularly work at the house and can be arranged prior to your stay. Also available upon request, an on-call massuese. From those members of our group who booked this - simply the best they've ever had!
After our evening meal, our group loved playing board games in the cozy living room next to the double-sided gas fireplace. When feeling adventurous, we would enjoy the second gas fireplace outside on the deck which offered views of the Catskill Mountains. This was one of our favorite places to watch the sunset. Once the sun dropped below the horizon line, we headed down to the massive fire pit by the pond to make s’mores and watch the moon rise over the barn. These three cozy locations made up our trifecta of warm, comfort, and community!
From the communal kitchen to the cozy fireplaces, it was hard leave the property. Our group loved the barn so much it was hard to tear ourselves away, but a few of us managed to make it into the town of Woodstock for some sightseeing. The barn is conveniently located between the town of Saugerties and Woodstock roughly a 20 minute drive away from each. Though we didn’t get to them all this weekend, our list of desired activities included a hike at Overlook Mountain and time spent exploring Opus 40 - a 6.5 acre outdoor sculpture garden. Other nearby attractions we hoped to visit included a lighthouse, Falling Waters Preserve, an animal sanctuary, and the Woodstock museum, but we’ll be saving these for our next trip to the barn.
Glamping Hub made it easy to find a unique five star nature based experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better host or property. Barn On The Pond was everything we imagined and more. We fell asleep to clear skies filled with constellations and woke up to birds chirping alongside the morning sun. Even the highest praises possible about the property and the host’s hospitality would be an understatement. Barn On The Pond was a magical experience and the perfect mix of rustic and modern. We look forward to returning in the spring!
